Learn about the Resurrection with the Community Helper for K

Our first "Community Helper" for K is King. I use the term Community Helper loosely because we don't have a king in this country, but we as Christians have a king in Jesus. And He is certainly a community helper.

So we spent some time talking about Jesus, reviewing who He was and reading the story of His death and resurrection.  To go along with this we made some Resurrection Rolls. The girls really enjoyed the fact that their rolls were empty once they were baked just like the tomb where Jesus was laid.

Resurrection Rolls

Ingredients

1 tube of crescent rolls
8 large marshmallows
Melted butter (about 2 T)
Sugar (about 3 T)
Cinnamon (about 2 T)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 359 degrees and lay your rolls out on a greased cookie sheet. Place melted butter in one bowl and mix cinnamon and sugar in a second bowl.

Roll your marshmallow in butter then in cinnamon and sugar mix. This represents the oil and spices used to prepare Jesus' body for burial.

Wrap the marshmallow in the crescent roll (tomb). Make sure you get it sealed well! The girls had a lot of trouble getting it sealed, so some of ours oozed a bit, but they were still empty in the end!

Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool until they can be handled. Cut open to reveal a now empty tomb!

The girls were thrilled to see their rolls really were empty! I think this was a great way to illustrate the surprise the women felt when they returned to find an empty tomb.

These would be perfect for anytime you are talking about Jesus's resurrection. And they are definitely a tasty way to talk about a community helper for K!
