High schoolers need science. They may not believe it, but not only is it needed to graduate, but knowing something about the world around you is extremely helpful as an adult. So for those students who really don't like or are not particularly good at science what do you do? Just make them muddle through loads of technical information and long labs? Have them slog through intense textbooks? Put them to sleep while you drone on about the classification of microbes?

Life Prep Online Homeschool Science
Greg Landry's Homeschool Science is an online learning option that offers both live lectures and self-paced lectures for grades 4-12. They have a large selection of science courses as well as a Student Success Skills class that covers note and test taking strategies as well as some information that is needed in all sciences.

Noteworthy Details of Greg Landry Science
Greg Landry Homeschool Science is taught from a young earth, Christian perspective. Sometimes it can be hard to find the right fit for Christians when it comes to science. We have always used Apologia, but it can definitely be intense for other families. This is a great, online option for kids who aren't that into science or not into textbooks.
Currently you can get all the self-paced courses at one price for entire family with the Homeschool Science Membership. Plus they are working on adding classes for grades 1-4 and a couple math classes for high school students not into math. If you are not interested in all the classes, they can all be purchased separately, but the full Homeschool Membership is the most economical way to go!

Each of the courses also includes a printable PDF for students to use with the lectures. This provides them with visuals, an area for notes, and some review questions. This can be helpful for kids who need to do something in order to listen well.
Greg goes through these worksheets and explains what the students need to do to complete them at the end of each lesson as well.
Greg Landry also provides a general flow to follow with the lessons as well as information on grading. As a Homeschool Science Member, you will also be able to email questions to Greg.

Who Should Not Use Greg Landry Science
Using Greg Landry Science in Our Homeschool
While we will likely continue our current science, there are a couple classes on Greg Landry that I think my high school kids would find useful and interesting like the embryology and microbiology.
However, if my students were not interested in science I would definitely have them give this a try. I can see how it would reduce the number of fights over completing homework that tend to occur when kids don't enjoy something while still providing students with the science knowledge needed for life.
