Party Popper Process Art

Party Popper Process Art

Fireworks are so expensive, and we always go to a professional display, so if we buy them it is after the July fourth.  They become much more reasonably priced after the holiday. So we buy the cheap fireworks, and the kids get to enjoy them sometimes even a year later.  This is especially true with these little champagne party poppers. They never seem to go bad and no matter the age, my kids still seem to love them!

They especially love the pretty papers that come out of them.

But you can't just keep all those little papers around and throwing them away can definitely result in meltdowns. This Party Popper Process Art allows the kids to keep them (a little longer at least).

Supplies for Party Popper Art

  • Champagne Party Poppers (Buy them cheap after the 4th or grab them anytime here)
  • Contact Paper
  • Easel or another flat surface on which to attach contact paper

Creating Party Popper Art

I set the kids up with contact paper, sticky side out, on the easel. Luckily the easel had a little clip to hold the paper, but I am sure a little washi tape or just folding over the edges of the contact paper would work as well.

Once the paper was ready, they were instructed to shoot the party poppers at the easel. Viola! They stick!

After they each had a turn. they tried doing one at the same time!

After they were happy with the amount on each sheet, they took the time to rearrange the papers how they liked, and then I placed a second sheet on contact paper on top to seal them.

Now they can hold onto their paper pretties or hang them on the wall or in the window or even use them as place mats at the table!
