Kids can Make these 2 Yummy Birds Nest Desserts

Kids can Make these 2 Yummy Birds Nest Desserts

Who doesn't love the combination of crunchy chow mein noodles and chocolate or butterscotch chips? Add peanut butter and it is even better! I even attempted adding marshmallow to the chocolate ones; seriously, I went all out on these things, but the best part for my independent kids was making something with minimal help!

For a springtime treat, we shaped these into little nests and added a Peanut Butter M&M egg!

Both recipes require Chow Mein Noodles and egg shaped candies. All ingredients and instructions for both birds nest recipes below!

Ingredients for the Chocolate/ Peanut Butter/ Marshmallow Nests:

  • 1 Cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 1 (7 oz) Jar Marshmallow Fluff
  • 2 T butter
  • Chow Mein Noodles
  • Egg Shaped Candy

Assembling the Chocolate/ Peanut Butter/ Marshmallow Nests

  1. Combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and marshmallow fluff in a small saucepan and melt, while stirring, until smooth.
  2. Stir in Chow Mein Noodles (no set amount just, however, many you want)
  3. Next form little nest shapes on a waxed paper lined baking sheet. Add whatever you are using for eggs (like I said, we chose Peanut Butter M&Ms) and refrigerate.

I will say the marshmallow fluff keeps the noodles from sticking well, but after shaping the nests and refrigerating they will set up! You can also leave the marshmallow fluff out and just have chocolate/ peanut butter nests.

Ingredients for the Peanut Butter/ Butterscotch Nests:

  • 1 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 2 Cups (1 bag) Butterscotch Chips
  • Chow Mein Noodles
  • Egg Shaped Candy

Assembling the Peanut Butter/ Butterscotch Nests

  1. Combine and melt in a small saucepan while stirring.
  2. Add Chow Mein Noodles until coated.
  3. Form nests on waxed paper lined baking sheets adding egg shaped candies when you finish. Again we used the Peanut Butter M&Ms because you can't get a much better-tasting egg shaped candy!

These will set up at room temperature but can be hurried along in the refrigerator.

Get your kids in the kitchen this spring to make adorable and delicious edible birds nest cookies!
