I'm sure everyone can agree that hands-on learning has big benefits, but I also know the feeling when you turn the page in your kid's science book and see a long, drawn out experiment just waiting for you. You dread the time investment or maybe just the mess or maybe the extra cost for supplies or maybe all of the above. This is especially true as you repeat experiments with younger kids; you have already seen it, so why not just lead them to the right conclusion. In most cases they can guess what will happen anyhow. But don't skip the experiments, science comes alive for your kids when you're mixing, measuring, observing, and discovering.

So despite the extra time, extra cost, and extra mess, here's why homeschoolers should prioritize performing science experiments even simple ones:
